Chapter 1;;♥ ~ Julianna
“Kayla!” I screamed running over to her and giving her a hug. “Jewel!” She exclaimed, grinning, “I haven’t seen you in like a zillion years!” “Oh my god, I know. I had to spend the entire summer at my aunt’s lame house in Ohio,” I said, rolling my eyes, “Oh, by the way, HAPPY SIXTEENTH!” She smiled, “Aww, thanks Jewel. You da best!” She said in a gangster accent. We both started hysterically laughing. “I hate that my birthday has to be the first day of school though,” She grimanced. ”Well, look on the bright side, we are Juniors now. One more year ‘til Seniors, Baby!” I shouted throwing my arms straight up into the sky. Everyone stared and we burst out laughing.
Just then, Cass, Nat, and Maddie snuck up behind Kayla. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLA!” They shouted, making her jump. She smiled, “Thanks you guys, you are amazing.” “What are friends for?” Madison said sticking out her tongue. Kayla rolled her eyes, “Yeah, so my party’s tonight at my house. Sleepover! You can all come right?” “Totally!” We all shouted at the same time. “Great!” She exclaimed, just as the bell rang. “See you all then!” She said and ran inside school.
————————————————————————————————-
“Oh my god! He does not!” Kayla shouted widening her eyes. “I’m dead serious,” Cassandra said, “He likes you, Kayla.” “It’s true,” Natalie announced, “I heard him talking to Jared at lunch.” “Oh my god, this is great! You guys know I’ve liked him since like seventh grade.” We nodded. “I’ll be right back, I’m thirsty,” Kayla said, standing up. “Okay,” I responded, as she went to the kitchen.
We all sat there silently. Finally, Maddie blurted, “I wish Kayla was different.” We all stared at her. “What?” Cass asked, confused. “Ugh, I don’t know! It just…sometimes…seems like…Kayla thinks she’s better than us. Sometimes I just wish that we could be the ones that all the boys want or people want to be friends with, you know?” We still stared. “What do you mean, Maddie? Kayla doesn’t act like that. Atleast, I don’t think she does.. Also, you are the only one out of all of us who has a boyfriend. Don’t you like him?” Nat said, her eyes full of question. “Of course I do! That’s not the point! Ugh, just forget it.” Maddie sighed, collapsing into her pillow.
“You know, Kayla’s been gone for a long time,” I whispered. We exchanged glances. “Jewel’s right,” Cass slowly responded, “I’m gonna go look for her.” She got up and went into the kitchen. A few minutes later, she ran back into the room. “She’s gone!” Cass yelled, frantically. Maddie sat straight up, “Gone? What do you mean ‘gone’!?!” “I mean as in not here! Not in this house!” “Oh c’mon,” Nat said, she has to be here somewhere.” “Let’s just look for her,” I suggested, standing up.
All of us searched the entire house. Kitchen, living room, bedroom, basement, bathroom, attic. We checked each room atleast five times each. For hours and hours, we looked. But we never found her. Our best friend Kayla, had vanished.

Chapter 8 // Epilogue;;♥
Dear Diary,
I’m in the hospital as I write this. Oww, my head hurts so much. I got a huge concussion when I hit my head a few days ago. My abdomen kills too. It’s all covered with bruises. That’s where he punched me. The doctors said I was very lucky to survive. I’m happy I’m alive. Oh, you can’t imagine how I feel right now. I feel horrible, but amazing at the same time. Horrible that I have to spend two weeks in a hospital bed, but amazing because we are safe. Bella is safe. I’m safe. Makayla’s safe. He’s dead. I’ve never felt better. Everyone in town feels so guilty. Everyone assumed she was dead. But I didn’t. I always knew. I always believed. Now she’s here with her family. Where she belongs. And just in time! Today’s Bella’s 5th birthday! Because I’m not allowed to leave this room, we are having a party in here. Mom, my friends, Bella’s old friends, the police officers that saved us, Makayla and her new foster mom, and everyone in town, pretty much, are all coming. It’s gonna be the largest celebration this town’s had since…I don’t even know when! It’s kind of a Happy Birthday/Welcome Home party, so it’s for Bella and me. Even though I have to spend so much time here in the hospital, it’s so much better than it was in that old high school. I hated it there, absolutely hated it. I have no idea how Bella managed to survive an entire year in that place! It’s always dark, scary, and so horrible. But I’ll never have to go there again. Never in my life. You couldn’t pay me to go back in the place! I love my home, and my family. It’s where I belong. It’s where we all belong.
Sincerely, Casey Brooks
Casey closed her diary and put it on the table next to her. She closed her eyes and laid down on her pillow. She thought about what had happened throughout the past few days. Setting out. Getting kidnapped. Being stuck in an abandoned, old high school. Being reunited with Bella. Meeting Makayla. Getting punched so hard in the abdomen. Hitting her head. Passing out. Waking up in the hospital, two days later. Being reunited with her mother. Meeting the agents that saved her. Being greeted by everyone. Feeling so loved… She drifted to sleep.
She awoke to the door opening. She rubbed her eyes and yawned. How long have I been out? Casey wondered. She looked at the door and there stood the nurse. “Everyone’s here to see you, Casey,” the nurse informed her, quietly. Oh no! She thought. I’ve been asleep for five hours! She couldn’t believe she had almost slept right through the party. “Ok, send them in,” Casey responded, adjusting herself. The nurse nodded and motioned to everyone to come in. She watched as everyone walked through the doors, into the room. She recognized mostly everyone. Neighbors, friends, teachers, workers, people around town, her mom’s friends, Bella’s friends, the policemen, Makayla and her new family. Lastly, her mom and Bella walked in. Well, her mother walked, Bella kind of did a mixture of skipping, jumping, twirling, and running. Casey smiled from ear to ear when she saw them. It had been so long since she’d seen them together. Bella ran over to the the bed and jumped on to it. She crawled up next to Casey and gave her a big kiss on the cheek. Casey grinned and gave her sister a hug. “Oh, I never thought I would see you two together again like this!” her mother said, wiping her eyes with her sleeve. “I did!!” Bella exclaimed, giving her most adorable baby smile. Her mother laughed, “I know you did, sweetheart,” She sighed, “I’m so glad we’re together again.” “Agreed,” Casey added. Then they gathered in a huge, group hug. A family once torn apart, brought back together as one.♥

Chapter 7;;♥
“WHO ARE YOU!?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?!” the man demanded. “Oh no, he’s back…” Makayla whispered, frightened. She looked around for a way to escape. There was none. It was too late. They were trapped. The detective looked at the man and for the first time in his career, he felt a flash of fear. Fred and Sargent exchanged scared looks. Bella clung to the detective’s leg. “WELL??” the man said, impaciently. He took a few steps forward and finally saw the agents up close. His eyes widened and then his face went furious. All of a sudden, he lifted his gun. “GET DOWN!!!” the detective screamed and the gun shot. The bullet crashed through the wall behind them. Quickly, the detective got up and punched the man with all his might. The man stumbled back, dropping his gun. Fred then ran up and kicked him in the (awkward, but you know what I mean…). He fell over gasping in pain.
“Sargent! Fred! Get the girls and bring them to the car NOW!!! Bring Casey too!!” the detective said quickly. He then went over to the man and picked up the gun. He put it to the man’s head. “You listen to me and you listen good. One move and you’re gone. Understand??” The man nodded painfully. “Good. Now, Howard Stevens, I think you have alot of explaining to do. But, first of all, take off that awful mask!” The man widened his eyes in horror. He shook his head rapidly. “What in the world?” the detective said, “Never in my life have I met someone unwilling to take off a mask.” He reached over and took it off. He dropped his jaw. This man was not Howard Stevens.
“What the hell!?! Who are you!?!” the detective asked utterly confused. The man sighed. “I hoped no one would find out,” the man said sadly, “No, I am not Howard Stevens. He was my brother.” The detective’s eyes widened. Well, that was clearly unexpected. He thought. “My name is Everett Stevens. Howard was my older brother. He lived with me. So, you see, when he took Bella, she lived with me too. He took Bella for an entirely different reason than he took the other children, however. He used to absolutely hate children last year, but after every child he killed, he softened up. I know that might sound absurd, but just listen. By the time he took Bella, he loved kids so much, he wanted one of his own. So he chose the most adorable, youngest child he could find. Which was Bella. When he died, I had to take care of her because I just couldn’t bring her home! I would be put in prison for sure! So, I guess, you could say, I became her “father”. Unfortunately, Bella wasn’t thrilled with the idea. Every day, she would scream about wanting her family back. Day after day, hour after hour, she complained nonstop. I finally reached a breaking point. So yesterday, I followed Casey when she left her house and took her to make Bella happy. I couldn’t let people know I did it because if they did I would be put in jail. So I set up the scam that my brother came back to life and hoped that maybe people would be so interested in a man rising from the dead, that they would just forget about Casey and Bella entirely. I brought them here because I didn’t expect anyone to think of looking in an abandoned high school. But, since you are here, I was clearly wrong.”
The detective didn’t know what to say. This man didn’t mean to do any crime really, he did it for a reason. He never planned to hurt any of the girls… But, wait! He did hurt one of the girls! For some unknown reason, he knocked Casey unconscious, almost killing her. This man isn’t right in the head. Just like his brother. He deserves to be locked up in jail. It’s the only option.
The detective was so deep in thought, he failed to realize that Everett had gotten up. He didn’t find out until Everett was standing before the detective with his gun aimed at his chest. The detective snapped out of it and his eyes greatly widened. Just as Everett pulled the trigger, Fred tackled him, sending the bullet flying off to the left, putting a hole through a window. The detective took that second to grab Everett’s gun that he had dropped. Fred jumped off him and ran to the detective’s side. The detective narrowed his eyes and aimed the gun at Everett’s chest. He could see the flash of fear in Everett’s eyes as the gunshot echoed throughout the room.

Chapter 6;;♥
“There it is!” Fred exclaimed, “62 First Avenue!” “Shhh,” Sargent whispered, “We have to be quiet, you never know who could be here.” The detective pulled into the parking lot and all three of them got out of the car. Fred looked at the building, puzzled, “Huh? Is this a…” “Yes, it’s a school. A high school. Don’t worry, it’s been abandoned since ‘78. I remember when I went here…” the detective finished, reminiscing. Oh god. Fred thought. He’s older than I thought… “…Well then, I know it might be fun remembered our high school years, but there is a serial killer inside that building!!” Sargent said, impaciently.
They slowly filed into the school. One by one. The inside of the school had an eerie feeling to it. It was almost pitch dark. The only light was of the sun shining through the few windows that weren’t boarded up. They all were cracked though. We have to hurry. The detective thought. The sun will be setting soon, and then there will be no light at all. They slowly started down the long, dark hallway. They looked in each room as they walked. Every room was empty. When they were just about the give up, a faint noise echoed around the corridor. They stopped in their tracks. “What was that?” Fred asked, looking around. “It’s coming from in front of us!” Sargent said. The three of them started fast walking down the hall. As they got closer, the noise got louder and louder, clearer and clearer. It was words. Someone talking. Then, the voice was crystal. “Wake up!” the voice said, “Come on! Stop sleeping please! He didn’t mean to do it! Just please wake up! He’s gonna be back soon!” The voice was muffled by sobbing. “It’s coming from the room next to us. Make sure you’re quiet,” the detective whispered. They opened the door and entered the room.
The crying immediately stopped. A small figure stood up. “Who’s there?” the voice demanded, shaking. They could now tell it was a girl’s voice. “We are police men,” the detective explained, gently, “We are here to help you.” The girl sighed out of relief. She walked out in front of them. Into the light. They could now see that she was a young girl. Probably 9 or 10. She had long, straight, brunette hair and wide, chocolate eyes. They were disappointed it wasn’t Casey, but it was a start. “I’m Makayla,” the girl said, “I really need your help. You see…” “Makayla? Who are you talking too?” a little girl’s voice said. A tiny girl stood up and toddled over to Makayla. The three agents couldn’t believe their eyes. In front of them stood an older toddler. Aged about 4 or 5. She had golden, wavy, shoulder-length hair with bangs. She had almond colored eyes and a pale face. She was absolutely adorable. She was absolutely recognizable. She was Bella Brooks.
They all stood there in shock staring at Bella. They immediately felt guilty. They had all thought she was dead. “Bella, these are police officers. They are gonna help us!” Makayla explained. Bella’s face lit up. She ran over and hugged the detective’s leg. He never smiled as wide as he did then. “So, as I was saying, we need help,” Makayla said. She led them over to where she had been before. Laying on the floor in front of them was a girl. A teenage girl. Casey Brooks. “He hit her. Hard,” Makayla said, ”She fell on the floor and hit her head. She won’t answer me and I’m scared! Please, help her. You have to hurry! I’m an orphan. I have no family. This school is my home. I can’t let him see me. If he ever did…” She was on the verge of crying again. The detective felt her wrist. “Well, she has a pulse. That’s good, but it’s faint. We need to bring her to the hospital immediately. She may have a major concussion. Sargent, Fred, take Bella and Makayla and bring them to the car. I’ll get an ambulance.” Just then, the door opened. A dark shadow of a man appeared in front of them. The detective slowly turned around…

Chapter 5;;♥
On his way back to his office, the detective’s cell phone rang. Who could that be? he thought as he took his phone out of his pocket, It’s an unknown number… “Hello?” he answered. “Hi, detective,” a middle-aged woman’s voice responded, “I saw that Casey Brooks went missing, so i wanted to inform you that I saw Casey running down the street and a man chasing after her.” The detective’s eyebrows rose. “Thank you mam,” he said, “We’ll be right there!” He let Sargent know and then they left for the station.
—————————————————————————————————-
“So, Miss…” the detective started. “Mary. My name is Mary.” the woman finished quietly. The detective looked at her. She had long, blonde, straight hair that she had pulled back into a ponytail. Her face showed she was both very nervous and scared to be there. He smiled at her and gently said, “Ok, Mary, could you tell me what happened?” “Yes,” she said, her voice shaking. She looked like she was on the verge of crying. “It was early this morning…
“It was around 9am. I had just finished my grocery shopping. I was walking back to my car when I saw a girl run by. She was about 12 or 13 and she looked strangely familiar. Then I realized that she was the Brooks girl. She had been on the TV a few times in the past year because of her baby sister. Poor girl. I swear, there was not one time when she didn’t break down into tears while on camera. And little Bella… Oh, how I miss that child. I used to babysit little Bella, you know? She was such a sweetheart,” Mary paused and dabbed her eyes with a handkerchief, “Where was I? Oh yes, the Brooks girl. So I was about to go ask her what was wrong when I saw a tall, thin, man running after her. He was dressed in black from head to toe. All you could see was his face. I couldn’t really get a good look at him but I know he had a large moustache…” The detective widened his eyes at this part. Howard Stevens has a moustache like that… “…Now, what happened next makes me feel horrible. I didn’t know what was really going on then. I saw her face. Poor Casey’s face. It was filled with fear. I could tell. I saw the fear since the second she ran by. I knew she was in trouble. I just didn’t know what kind of trouble at the time. I thought it might’ve just been her dad and she got in trouble for not cleaning her room or something. I don’t know! But, I feel horrible. I saw her. I could’ve helped her. I could’ve stopped him. But, no. I just stood there. Like a bystander to a fight. I didn’t help. I didn’t interfere. And now… She could be… Dead for all I know!!” She took a deep breath and tryed to stop the tears from spilling out.
All of a sudden, her entire face lit up. “Wait a second!! There’s a part I forgot to tell you! So I watched as he grabbed the girl and led her to the car. I thought it was weird that a man would treat his daughter that way. I was thinking about that when the car did a 180 degree turn and started down the road next to me. I looked at the license plate as it drove by. It was W356FG*. Did I mention I have a great memory?” Mary finished smiling. Both the detective and Sargent was astounded. “Mary, that’s amazing!” Sargent exclaimed. “That license plate could lead us to Stevens and Casey!” the detective said excitedly. “It could?” Mary asked as surprised as the other two. “Yes, I’ll show you,” The detective responded and led Mary to his computer. “It’s a special program for us FBI agents. You just type in a lincense plate number and that car’s current location is shown on the screen!” He typed in “W356FG” and then all of a sudden, “62 First Avenue, Brooklyn, NY” flashed across the screen. “That’s just five blocks over!” Sargent shouted. “C’mon gang, let’s go kick some zombie butt!!” Fred yelled, coming out of no where and dressed in camoflage. “Mary, you stay here,” the detective said and the three of them ran for the police car.

*The license plate number is just a number I randomly made up. It is in no way related to a real license plate.
Chapter 4;;♥
The detective paced back and forth across his office. “It doesn’t make any sense.” he said to himself, “How does Howard Stevens’ body just disappear? Who would want his body anyway? He was just a sick, sick man. No one on earth would want him back.” “Dude, I told you, he came back to life!” Fred said, coming out of no where. The detective nearly had a heart attack. “God Fred! Don’t do that. Ever.” “Haha whatever man.” Fred said laughing and walking away. He stopped at the doorway. “Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I was sent here to tell you that they found a clue for the Casey Brooks case.” The detective’s jaw dropped. “What? Tell them I’ll be right there!” he said and ran out the door.
————————————————————————————————
The detective arrived at the scene in five minutes. When he got there he surveyed the area. It was the middle of town. There were shops, and cars, and resturants. How did they find a clue here? There was nothing unusual. He walked over to sargent who was standing by the bus stop talking to another officer. “Hey Sarg, I came as fast as I could. What did you find?” “Hello detective. We found Casey’s diary. It was here on the bench with the pages sprawled open. It definately looks like it wasn’t left here on accident. Oh, and there are some things in here I think you should see.” he said, holding out the diary opened to the most recent entry. The detective read:
Dear Diary, I’m going to find her. Don’t ask me why I know, I just know. I have this feeling that Bella’s finally going to be with her family again. I feel sorry for mom though, she must be worried sick!! I wish I could’ve told her I was leaving, but if I did she would never let me go. Of course I don’t blame her, after she already lost one child she would never want to lose another. So I’m taking the bus to the end of town, to the cemetery. I have no clue why I’m going there, it’s my gut feeling again…Ok, I’m really scared right now. There is this weird guy watching me. I feel like I’ve seen him before. He reminds me of someone…Oh my god!! I know where I’ve seen him before!!! He’s the guy who took Bella!!!! I watched him take her. I tried to stop him but he pushed me. Hard. I went unconscious. But…Oh my god!! He’s walking this way!! He better not get any closer or I’ll punc
Punc. The detective thought. Punch. Punch him. That’s what she tried to say. But she couldn’t finish. He took her. Kidnapped her. Left her diary here. That man. A man she said looked exactly like the man who kidnapped Bella. That man who was Howard Stevens. Howard Stevens died a year ago. Something is definately not right with this situation. Dead people don’t come back. They can’t. It’s impossible. There is no way.
“It’s the only explanation detective,” sargent said, as if he read the detective’s mind. The detective was still unsure, ”But how can…” “I don’t know detective. But we have to work with what he have. The body is gone. He was spotted by Casey. We have proof that he took her. I know it’s hard to believe, but Fred was right.” The detective shook his head and looked up at the sky. He couldn’t believe he was actually going to say this. “Yes, I know. Fred was right, well, somewhat right. It is true that Howard Stevens kidnapped both Casey and Bella.” The detective sighed. Maybe that crazy priest wasn’t so mad after all. Neither was Fred. Maybe something, well, someone did crawl out of that graveyard last night. Someone he had personally watched die. Someone who had died a entire year ago.

Chapter 3;;♥
“Ok sir you really need to calm down,” the detective said, taking a deep breath. “Please, sit,” he instructed, pointing at the seat directly in front of him. Where is Fred with my damn coffee? the detective thought, looking at the door. He was already annoyed today, he didn’t need this jittery priest adding to that. Fred should be here by now. He must have left at least an hour ago. That was when Fred, being his accident-prone self, ran right into the detective spilling his hot, steaming, mocha latte all over his suit. The detective sighed. Those stains are never going to come out. Ugh, college kids…
“Oh, I’m terribly sorry detective,” the priest said, sitting down. “It’s just that… In my fourty-one years as a priest here in town, I have never seen, nor heard of anything so preposterous.” “Yes, I know what you mean,” the detective replied. “Well, before we get into things, could you tell me your name?” “Wilson. Richard Wilson,” the priest answered. “Ok, Richard, could you perhaps tell me what happened?” “Yes,” he replied, slowly, “It was last night…
“I was walking around outside. I always have a nightly walk. It’s peaceful, quiet, everything is always the same. Nothing changes. That’s how I like it. But, not tonight. It was dark. Really dark. It was probably 11? 12? I’m not exactly sure. I walked past the graveyard. I quickly glanced over it and in that short moment, I could tell something was wrong. It was in the very top left corner of the graveyard. All the graves looked exactly the same, except one. I just had to walk over there and see what was wrong. That one grave was ruining my organized walk session. When I finally reached the top corner, my eyes widened in horror. The grave was completely destroyed. The gravestone had been flung to the side, cracked down the middle. Dirt was literally everywhere. A gigantic hole was where the body should be. The body was no where. Absolutely, no where. And you know what the most frightening part was? The part that I think I must be imagining? I must be mad. Truely mad. It’s absurd. I know it is. But, there were footprints, and handprints, and clawed up dirt, and scratch marks. It looked like someone had been in the ground and dug their way out…”

Chapter 2;;♥
The detective walked across the room to the coffee machine where his collegues, the Sargent, Phil, and the Rookie, Fred, were talking. “Boys, we have a case to solve,” he said. Sargent and Fred widened their eyes in surprise. “Woah…We haven’t had a case since that Brooks girl last year. This town is sooooo lame,” Fred said rolling his eyes. The detective frowned. “Um, well speaking of the Brooks girl, that’s why I came.” “Oh, so they finally found the dead girl? Was she found like how the people around town say?” Fred asked. “Fred! No! First of all, we never found her. Second of all, it hasn’t been proved that she’s dead. She could very well be alive just like you and me. I was talking about another Brooks girl. Her sister. Older sister. Name’s Casey Brooks. Thirteen, reddish-brown hair, blue eyes. Last seen in her bedroom. Her mom said she was supposed to be doing homework.” “Alright Boss,” Sargent said taking notes. “Ughh, too much information,” Fred complained. “We’ll go over it later,” the detective stated and walked away.
———————————————————————————————-
“Don’t you find it a little weird that a little girl goes missing and then her older sister goes missing exactly a year later?” the detective asked as he took a sip of his coffee. Sargent just sat there with a puzzled look on his face. “What’s the matter Sargent?” the detective asked putting down his coffee mug. “I just realized something detective. It will be the one year anniversary of you killing that serial killer on next Thursday.”
Ah yes. The serial killer incident last year. The detective had tried to forget about it, but it always came back to haunt him. He had never ment to harm anyone. Let alone kill someone. Really, it was not on his “To Do” list. It just happened. The man just pushed him over the edge… People said it was a good thing. They congratulated him, applauded him, threw a party for him. But how could you enjoy yourself while celebrating something that made you feel so awful inside? Of course, the man was a psychopath. He deserved to die. All the pain he caused, all the families he hurt, all those children… Those poor, poor, children. Everyone tries to pretend everything’s back to normal. That they are still the same happy, bubbly, innocent children they were before everything happened. They aren’t. Whatever people those kids were before the whole Howard Stevens episode died and were replaced. Changed into kids who look the same, but deep inside their heart is torn.
“They did say that Howard Stevens kidnapped every child under the age of 4 in town…” Sargent continued. “Wait, so you’re saying that big scary dude took that little girl before boss shot him?” Fred asked with his eyes full of concern. Fred wouldn’t go within 5 miles of Stevens last year he was so terrified. “It is a possibility,” the detective responded.
Just then one of the head officers burst into the room all out of breath. “Sorry to interrupt detective, but you three are not going to believe this!” he said while breathing heavily. “Calm down officer, what is it?” the detective asked as he stood up from his seat. “The priest from the center of town called. He said that the grave is empty. Howard Stevens’ body vanished!!” “Oh my god!” Fred exclaimed, his eyes widening in horror, “He came back to life!!”

Chapter 1;;♥
Casey walked up to her desk and took out her velvety, blue diary from the desk drawer. Then she collapsed onto her bed with tears dwelling up in her bright blue eyes. She opened up to the first empty page. She wished today could just be over already, but she decided that it would help pass time if she wrote in her diary. Tears spilled out while she wrote:
Dear Diary,
Today is the one year anniversary of Bella’s disappearance. Mom and I are in shock that it’s been so long since we’ve seen her smiling face. Everyone in town thinks she’s dead, but I know she isn’t. I can feel it. I just wish the police would bring her home, but they aren’t even trying anymore!! They gave up two months ago. They said that if they found any more clues they would reopen the case. Don’t they care that a little 4-year-old is out there all alone and scared!?! She went missing only six days before her 4th birthday. So she is turning 5 in less than a week now. We missed her whole 4th year!! I miss her so much!! If the police aren’t going to find Bella, I will.
Sincerely, Casey Brooks
She sighed and closed her diary. She tried to think about the good Bella. The one she can remember. The one who loved her teddy bear, Mr. Snuggles, so much, she would never go anywhere without him. The one who always pranced around in her ballerina tutu. The one who always told everyone she saw, even total strangers, that when she grew up she was going to be a princess. The one who cherished every little thing someone gave her, like they were all worth millions of dollars. That was Bella. Is Bella. The real Bella. Not the one in the stories they tell around town. She wouldn’t listen to those stories. She couldn’t listen to those stories. They aren’t true. They will never be true. She won’t let them be true.
Casey got off her bed and ran to her dresser. She grabbed her backpack and started to stuff everything she could into it. Clothes, money, food, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo. Everything she thought was a necessity. She grabbed her diary and held it tightly to her chest. If the police aren’t going to find Bella, I will, Casey thought as she took a last glance at her room. Then she shut the door, and left the house.
